Research proves necessity of funding

A research team submitted a grant proposal requesting funds for a multi-year study examining the effects of sleep deprivation on the academic performance of elementary school students. The foundation was intrigued by the proposal but was concerned that there was not enough research on the topic to warrant a study of this size.

The research team requested that Green Heron Information Services perform a literature search of the academic and grey literature to identify any published research relevant to the topic. A comprehensive interdisciplinary search identified 70 peer reviewed articles and 30 reports.

The research team rewrote their proposal and the foundation fully funded their grant request.
